Wood fire could take a week to burn out
A timber fire near King’s Lynn could take a week to burn out, according to Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service.
Crews have been at the site at Manor Farm in North Runcton since lunchtime on Saturday.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service will oversee a controlled burning which is expected to take up to seven days, due to the amount of wood involved.
Environmental Health staff from the borough council will be undertaking daily visits to monitor the impact of the smoke on local people.
Local rivers and ground water have not been polluted yet. The Environment Agency will continue to monitor the run-off.
Anyone with health concerns is advised to contact their GP or contact the NHS 111 service out of hours.
People are advised to keep their windows and doors shut, and avoid spending unnecessary time outdoors. Motorists who have to travel through the smoke should keep their windows closed, turn off air conditioning and keep air vents closed.
