Storm Doris: Fire service called after roof collapses

The Echo received a call from a passerby at around 12.30pm to report that Royland Road turning into Park Road had been closed off, near Trinity Methodist Church.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a premises in Loughborough today after Storm Doris caused the roof of a building to collapse.

The Echo received a call from a passerby at around 12.30pm to report that Royland Road turning into Park Road had been closed off, near Trinity Methodist Church.

The road had been closed as the weather conditions had caused the roof of a building on Park Road to collapse and fall into its neighbour’s garden.

A fire appliance was in attendance and left the scene at around 1pm.

A spokesperson from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service told the Echo: “We received a call to a dangerous structure.

“The call reported one partially collapsed building which had fallen into next door’s garden.

“We can confirm it was due to weather conditions.

“It has been left in the hands of Charnwood Borough Council and the building inspector.”
