Firefighters have warned residents after being called to a chimney fire in Hersden.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended Sutton Road at 1.12pm this afternoon (April 1).

A spokesman said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a chimney fire in Sutton Road, Hersden.

“Crews were aided by a height vehicles to gain access to the chimney from above and used chimney gear to extinguish the blaze inside the stack.”

Firefighters are appealing to residents and businesses with chimneys to consider signing up for Kent Fire and Rescue Service’s Clean Sweep Alert service which offers support and advice around keeping a chimney clean and safe.

Crews had left the scene by 3.03pm
