A woman had to be rescued from a burning bungalow by firefighters last night in Maidstone.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) sent two fire engines to the scene of the blaze in College Avenue at around 8.30pm last night (Tuesday, December 27).

A KFRS spokesman said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to fire in the rear bedroom of a bungalow in College Avenue, Maidstone.

“Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and led a woman to safety.

“She was passed in to the care of an ambulance crew. The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet.”

Fire crews were on the scene for under an hour and left at around 9.30pm.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
