Fatal house fire in Gotham being investigated by police

Police and fire services are investigating the circumstances of a fatal house fire in Gotham.

The fire was at a property in Kegworth Road, Gotham, on Friday, October 14.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the fire just before 6pm and crews from East Leake and West Bridgford, with the assistance of firefighters from Castle Donington (Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service) and Ascot Drive (Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service), attended the incident.

According to fire services a body has been recovered from the property however the deceased has not yet been formally identified.

A spokesperson from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “In addition to the joint investigation between Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nottinghamshire Police, that is currently taking place into the cause of the fire, crews from East Leake and London Road Fire Stations were around the Kegworth Road area on Saturday morning, (October 15) providing reassurance and offering fire safety advice to local residents.

“It is expected that firefighters and members of the Service’s Community Safety Team will also be in the area again today (Monday, October 17) to continue providing that reassurance.

“The thoughts of all at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service are with the family and friends of the deceased at this sad time.”
