Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirm departure of Chief Fire Officer David Johnson
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that David Johnson has been dismissed as Chief Fire Officer after a two-year dispute.
A statement on the Essex County Fire and Rescue’s official website confirmed the news on Tuesday (April 25) afternoon.
It is understood that Mr Johnson has been suspended with full pay since April 2015, after being on sick leave since June 2014.
An investigation was carried out and a meeting was held in November 2016. thought to have discussed Mr Johnson’s sick leave and performance.
In the statement, Cllr Anthony Hedley, Chairman of the Essex Fire Authority, said: “With immediate effect, today (Tuesday 25 April) David Johnson has been dismissed as Chief Fire Officer for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
“This dismissal follows a robust process in compliance with the law in relation to statutory officers”.
