Emergency services were called to reports of a car fire in Cedar Avenue West in Chelmsford at around 4.46am on Sunday, May 21.

It took the firefighters around 15 minutes to totally extinguish the fire.

A concerned local resident, who only wished to be known as Nicky, saw the event happened and described that there was: “thick, black smoke and bits of burnt things in the air falling into Cedar Avenue West.

“I first thought that it was a house fire, but it was actually a car on a drive.

“I walked down there and there was quite a few burnt bits on the floor like melted headphones and bits of burnt rope.”
